A monthly membership program to help you begin your personal and ancestral lineage healing or move more deeply into this sacred container.
In every generation there is one family member who is chosen by the ancestors, or who volunteered for the job of family healer. The family healer chooses to take a journey through the darkness of both their personal and ancestral patterns, trauma, grief, loss, secrets, burdens, and blessings. This healer may be called the “Black Sheep” or the “Weird or Crazy One” or many other negative names because they are so different from the rest of the family.
The family healer normally asks many questions, not only about his or her life, but that of the family, and what is happening in the world. This healer is often the one who courageously speaks the truth, much to the dismay of those who would rather keep the truth hidden with the skeletons in the closet. The family healer may recognize from a very young age that there are patterns that should not be continued. Never be repeated. Stopped. Often, this is met with great resistance from the family.
The family healer is one who dives deep into their own lives to heal their shadows and asks the hard questions about family secrets, lies, grief and trauma. By having the courage to heal themselves through the dark night of the soul, they also heal the ancestors, their descendants, and all those connected to them.
Are you the family healer? Have you questioned the best way to do this vital work? Are you interested in learning different ways to continue shedding the layers of what does not work? Are you ready to join a community of like-minded individuals, genealogists, military researchers, and family healers?

What Are We Exploring?
Each month I will teach live on a new topic, resource, or teach a new skill. A replay will be available in the product. I will begin with foundational topics for working with our ancestors & healing. We will then be jumping into topics around family patterns that we discover in genealogy & military records & how they affect our lives. I will be sharing tools to help you discover these patterns, blessings, & burdens to better understand yourself and your ancestors. You might be surprised at what you discover - I certainly was when I used these tools!
If you join the Café after these live programs, I encourage you to start with these videos.

Topic: Grounding and Boundaries when working with the Ancestors
When we do this deeper work, it is vital we establish boundaries and ground our energy. This is especially important knowledge when you travel for heritage reasons.
Thursday, September 2, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. CST
Topic: Processing Our Discoveries (genealogy, military, and personal discoveries)
How do we process the new knowledge which comes from our research, conversation with family members, or our own 'ah-ha' moments? I'll teach some tools to help you process information, especially when it is traumatic or unexpected.
October - date TBD
Topic: General Ancestral Details in Military Records
We are so often trying to only discover names, dates, and places within military records that we overlook details which help us better understand our ancestor. In this first program on military records, I'll show you some often-overlooked details in a basic look at personnel records.
November - date TBD
Topic: Trauma Details in Military Records
Following-up on last month's topic, I will take you through some higher level contextual military records to help you identify information that can help explain the trauma your ancestor suffered during war. These details will help you piece together the story of who they were after the war.
Meet Your Guide on this Journey
Hello! I'm Jennifer!
I’ve been on a conscious personal healing journey for more than a decade. My journey began while researching & writing about my family & military history. My military ancestors helped me dive deeper into my personal & ancestral trauma to heal.
By 2015 my healing journey & military work allowed me to travel in Europe & create a life both there & in Chicago. I became embedded in Dutch society, life, relationships, healthcare, politics, culture, got a deep dive into grief when I became a caregiver to someone I was in a relationship with & more, which gave me a unique perspective on our world & the layers of trauma we each carry, no matter where we live. Each experience I had in Europe gave me awareness & puzzle pieces for my healing & the healing of our ancestors & the collective. Puzzle pieces & awareness I can now share with you.
We are all connected no matter where we live, what our culture is, what our trauma has been….when one heals, we all heal.
Why Did I Create the Ancestral Café?
Ancestral Café was created in part because in my 25+ years of genealogy and military research, the communities rarely allowed discussion on vital or taboo topics around ancestral healing or trauma. These were being censored in large part in the research communities and at conferences. However, many people would speak privately with me about their interesting experiences with their ancestors and the questions that went unanswered within the communities.
It was my experience for the last 25+ years that people danced around the topics of ancestors speaking to them or guiding them, using energy healing, or channeling to connect with an ancestor. Without a paper trail, you were not a “proper” genealogist. But, family patterns, secrets, and lies are not always found on a paper trail, but in our intuition, our bodies which hold trauma, and our relationships with others.
You could talk about “genealogy serendipity” but you couldn’t talk about the ancestral contact beyond the veil or family members who did terrible things. Things that created trauma in the family and hidden. Those topics would get you labeled and sometimes banned from groups.
I do not believe in censorship.
I believe everyone has a truth to speak and a story to tell. The more we share, the more we learn. The more we heal. The more we connect. The more we are this energy of healing, we attract those who require our assistance. This was certainly true for my military work. Clients began showing up asking for healing. Asking for a deeper understanding of who an ancestor was, their role in life, their contribution to the world, and the negative and traumatic things that happened to them, which affected the client. We call that inherited or multigenerational trauma.
Ancestral Café was created in part also because I am the family healer. The “Odd Duck” or “Crazy Questioner”, “the Strange One.” Being the family healer often leaves us isolated because people do not know what to do with us. Parents, siblings, cousins, spouses, friends, may feel we shine too brightly. Our light irritates their demons or shadows. Yet, we have a job to do and building a community in which we feel safe to share is important. A community I wish I had years ago.
I consciously began my healing journey over a decade ago. When I moved out and got a divorce in 2012, my ancestors who died while in military service began showing up. I heard them, I saw them, they spoke to me. I wrote their words. I felt their love, grief, pain, hopes, and wishes. My great grandpa Joseph also showed up to help guide me, love me, and sometimes kick me in the butt when I was getting off track. It was my job, part of my reason for being here, to heal myself, my ancestors, my boys, and contribute to collective healing. Little did I know how that journey would pan out or what would happen along the way.
As I travel this path energetically and physically, I have learned a lot. Many things I can now share with you! I believe in telling my stories and speaking my truth. I believe in listening. Witnessing. Healing.
I am grateful to be of service in this way at this time as our world changes. I look forward to walking this road of healing with you as we build a new community together.
